Written Test Prep
A good score on a written exam can significantly aid in making the oral exam portion of the checkride easier, as Designated Pilot Examiners (DPEs) are required to test you on the items missed on the written exam.
Many online ground schools offer practice exams that emulate the actual written exam you will be taking. Practice tests help to confirm knowledge areas you think you know well and to focus your attention on areas that need further study.
There are also other test prep providers that provide a bank of the actual questions that will appear on your FAA written exam, though this typically applies to all exams other than the Private Pilot Airplane written exam.

Whether you use the online ground school practice exams or an exclusive test prep provider’s practice exams, you’ll feel more prepared to take the actual written exam when you can consistently score at least 90% on the practice exams. While 70% is passing, having a higher score will make your life a lot easier on the oral exam portion of the checkride as DPEs are required to test you knowledge on the items missed on the written exam.
If it fits within your budget, an electronic E6B flight computer is an easier way calculate performance, weight & balance, etc. compared to a paper E6B flight computer and the electronic version is allowed during your written exam. Otherwise, a paper E6B flight computer will still enable you to successfully pass.
